Dr. Stephanie Johnnides was born and raised in Miami, Florida. She obtained her bachelor's degree from the University of Florida in Health Science Education. During her undergraduate years in Gainesville, Florida, she worked as an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) technician at University of Florida Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital. During this time she realized that Emergency and Critical Care Medicine was her calling.
She is a graduate of Ross University, School of Veterinary Medicine. She has also completed a rotating medical and surgical internship at Long Island Veterinary Specialists, New York. Following her internship, she completed a rigorous, 3-year Emergency and Critical Care residency at the Animal Emergency Center, Glendale, Wisconsin. She is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care.
Some of her special interests include acute intoxications, management of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) and patient's sepsis, trauma management (hit by car, burn injuries, fall injuries) and mechnical ventilation (also known as "life support"). She has a passion for educating both interns and nursing staff on the basics of triage, emergency readiness, emergency procedures and nursing care.
She enjoys working under pressure, she finds great satisfaction in making a difference in both the lives of clients and of course the life of their pets, who require prompt treatment to provide the best possible outcome in emergent and critical situations.
She is very excited to bring this new service to Peace Avenue Veterinary Clinic and Hong Kong.
My goal is to provide compassionate care to meet the needs of all hospitalized patients. I enjoy working in collaboration with other medical and surgical specialties to provide patients with the most current, evidence-based approach to deliver the best possible outcome.
