Dr. Angel ALMENDROS
HK registered & American recognized Specialist in Canine & Feline practice
Dr Almendros graduated from the University of Murcia, Spain in 2000, winning both Erasmus and Leonardo Da Vinci scholarships to study and work in Lisbon University (Portugal) and Milan (Italy) respectively. On placement, he developed his interest and experience in Clinical Pathology, Diagnostic Imaging Oncology and Cytology. After subsequently spending almost two years in a Spanish practice, he then added to his experience working as a veterinarian in the United Kingdom over a period of 8 years. During this time, he also actively participated in NGO projects, volunteering in North India and Thailand for Vets Beyond Borders and PhaNgan Animal Care (PAC).
Dr Almendros has been in Hong Kong since 2011, and is really enjoying both living and working in this vibrant city. He has completed a postgraduate certificate PGCertSc and a masters degree MVM in companion animal medicine at Massey University, New Zealand which included papers on Endocrinology, Cardiology, Soft Tissue Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Oncology and an independent Research Paper. His dissertation discussed Babesia gibsoni infection, and a related article is in the process of being published with Dr. Almendros being the main author.
In November 2018 he became a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) in canine and feline practice. ABVP is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association to offer species-based certification in several practice categories. The American Board of Veterinary Practitioners advances the quality of veterinary medicine through certification of veterinarians who demonstrate excellence in species-oriented clinical practice. ABVP Diplomates have a common desire and willingness to deliver superior, comprehensive, multi-disciplinary veterinary service to the public.
Aside the busy academic and working life of Dr Almendros, he likes travelling and outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, snowboarding and snorkeling, as well as taking advantage of the wide cultural repertoire of theatre, concerts and dining that Hong Kong has to offer.
